Heathwood Gardens, Charlton, SE7
Period Detail, Preserved – A Bespoke Windows project on Heathwood Gardens, Charlton, SE7
Heathwood Gardens is a quiet residential street in Charlton, lined with handsome late Victorian houses built in London stock brick with distinctive red brick banding and ornate double-height bays.
Like so many period properties, this house had lost its original sash windows somewhere along the way.
In their place sat inappropriate modern casements – flat, featureless and entirely out of keeping with the Victorian architecture around them. The customer wanted to put that right and reinstate traditionally-designed sash windows the house was built to have.

The star of this house is its two-storey canted bay, crowned with a dentil cornice and finished with decorative corbels beneath the first floor sills.
After a recommendation from a neighbour, Bespoke Windows were appointed with a clear brief: reinstate period character by replacing the existing windows with low maintenance, high performance timber alternative units.
7 Heritage uPVC sash windows were fitted across the front elevation, each incorporating traditional sash horns, discreet trickle vents and smooth, effortless operation – with both top and bottom sashes opening with ease.

The result is a home that looks every bit as traditional as the day it was built – but now benefits from low maintenance, high performance double glazed sash windows.
The job took just two days, with no additional redecoration necessary.
